It all started in 2020, due to COVID & lockdowns we were in our hometown, Rajasthan and got to spend some quality time with our long extended family, especially with my nephews and nieces. As all the schools were closed, I started getting involved in their education and got to know about the current education system and its problem. They were learning for the sake of exams, following rote learning, fulfilling excessive homework, barely interested in things they were asked to do, completely disconnected from the current world therefore, no real-world learning.

Our education system originally, was designed for an industrial age which in today’s context is redundant as the world has completely transformed. However our education has remained the same. Everything has changed around us except how we teach and children are still learning from age-old methods and things that are hardly relevant to the current world. After this, I started spending time with a couple of education startups to understand more and almost everyone was following the   “One Size Fits All” kind of approach and not solving the core problem of our schooling system.

That is when I decided that I couldn’t let Ayaan, our son indulge in this kind of learning environment. I believed that every child is different and they need to learn at their individual pace and interest. we can’t have the same approach to them as others. Consequently I decided to explore various models across the globe and found Acton Academy’s philosophy as best aligned with my thought process  and started Ribbons – An Acton academy network school in Bangalore.
